1985 - Full degree doctoral thesis in Theoretical and Mathematical Physics in A.V.Steklov Institute of Mathematics of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Moscow);

Since 1994 - Professor of Solid State Physics Chair;

Since 2011 - Corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

Academic interests and main achievements

Condensed matter physics: neutron scattering by nanostructural materials, low dimensional magnetics, cluster state of magnetic nanofluids and fullerene water solutions.

A new research area in structural neutronography - time-of-flight neutron Fourier diffractometry – was created under his supervision and with his direct involvement; a precision research method for layered nanostructures - method of waveguide-enhanced amplification of magnetic scattering of polarized neutrons was proposed and developed with his direct involvement as well.

Among the other achievements are:

  • development of methods of neutron nanodiagnostics of biocompatible colloid systems based on fullerene water solutions and magnetic nanofluids;
  • creation of a methodic base for their use in nanobiology;
  • discovery of the following new structural effects in nano- and biosystems and their detailed study:
    • interdomain mobility of unstructured proteins;
    • deformation of lipid vesicles by magnetic field;
    • transverse alignment of nanoparticles in layered copolymers;
    • reverse proximity effect in a ferromagnet/superconductor layered system.

Victor L. Aksenov is a leader of the time-of-flight structural neutronography scientific school; as a scientific adviser, he trained 12 first degree Doctors of Science and 4 full degree Doctors of Science. Prof. Aksenov is the founder of the Department of Neutronography of Lomonosov Moscow State University and its active chair, as well as a deputy chair of the thesis committee.

Management and research activities

A member of editorial boards of the journals of the Russian Academy of Sciences, as well as national and international scientific councils.

2012 2015 - a member of the RF President Council for Science and Education;

1997 – 2001 a member of Scientific Council of the European Center for Neutron Research - The Institut Laue-Langevin, ILL (France).
