Тема: «Nuclear physics instrumentation at a neutron high flux reactor»
Research in Nuclear Physics was historically one of the main driving motivations for the construction of research reactors. Over many decades the very unique instrumentation at high flux reactors made ground breaking contributions to our understanding of nuclear physics. In the first part of the talk I will give an overview on the currently existing nuclear physics instrumentation at the ILL high flux reactor. Using a few physics examples I will illustrate how these instruments complement each other and how their capabilities can be compared to other nuclear physics facilities. Some focus will also be put on the importance of a scientific infrastructure such as sample preparation, data handling and instrument control. In the second part of the talk I will discuss the case of nuclear physics instruments on a newly built high flux reactor.
